Translate LINE voice messages and calls

Pick Tingdong Microphone once, and every call is interpreted both ways as it happens. LINE’s translation options work on text — an official translation account can turn a typed message into another language, but a voice message and a call carry no text at all. On your Mac, Tingdong fills that gap: it captions a voice message in your language while it plays, and for a call taken in the LINE Mac app it interprets both directions, so they hear your words as a translated voice while you read live captions of theirs.
How to set it up
- 1For voice messages: “Live Listen” with “Screen sound”
Press Start in Tingdong, then play the voice message in the LINE app on your Mac. Captions appear as it plays: original line on top, your language below.
- 2For calls: call from the LINE Mac app
Pick “Call Translation” in Tingdong, then choose “Tingdong Microphone” as the mic in LINE’s settings. Nothing else to configure.
- 3Talk, or just read
They hear your voice plus a translated voice; you read bilingual captions of everything they say. Only want to understand them? “Live Listen” captions the call without using your mic.
Japanese, Thai and Chinese in the same chat, without picking a language
LINE chats often run across several languages at once — a Japanese colleague, a Thai supplier, a Taiwanese friend — and a translation setting that has to be chosen per chat, per direction, is exactly what people stop using. Tingdong detects the language per phrase among 60+ inputs, so you never set a source language: a voice message in Japanese and the next one in Thai caption the same way, and a call where two people switch language mid-sentence keeps producing captions. Japanese in particular punishes line-by-line tools, because it drops subjects and holds the verb until the end; translating a continuous stream of speech with context across sentences is what makes a long voice message readable instead of a list of fragments.
Frequently asked questions
Can it translate a LINE call on my phone?
Not directly — iOS does not let any third-party app reach call audio. Take the call in the LINE app on your Mac and pick “Tingdong Microphone”, or hand a regular phone call to your Mac over Bluetooth.
Does it work on LINE voice messages?
Yes, that is the most common use. Press play in the Mac app with Live Listen running and the message is captioned in your language while it plays, however long it is.
Does the other side need to do anything?
No. They use LINE normally. In a call with Call Translation on, they hear your original voice plus a translated voice, and they install nothing.
Which languages does it cover?
Over 60 input languages, auto-detected per phrase — Japanese, Thai, Korean, Chinese, Indonesian, English and the rest — translated into the language you read.
Does it also caption LINE video calls and group calls?
Yes. Tingdong works from the audio your Mac plays, so it does not matter how many people are on the call or whether video is on; every speaker gets captioned.
